Father’s Day is right around the corner, have you found that perfect gift yet? Shopping for fathers and grandfathers may appear to be a challenge, but we’ve put together a few ideas to thank the special men in your life.

There’s No Place Like Home

Could your parents benefit from improved accessibility within their home? Are you a ‘Do-It-Yourself’ type of person? From widening doorways to modifying bathrooms to better accommodate wheelchairs and mobility equipment, taking on an accessible home renovation project at your dad’s could be the perfect gift this Father’s Day. Even updates like installing portable ramps on each doorway to make entering and leaving the home a bit smoother can have a significant impact on your father’s comfort. If your dad’s also handy with a hammer, why not make this a project you can both work on and share a experience over?

Get Him on the Road

While the thought of helping your father purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) may seem like a costly and faraway dream, you might be surprised at the options available to help you transform dad’s everyday. Purchasing or financing a WAV between you and your siblings, or finding out if your family qualifies for any reimbursements or special offers, can help get dad behind the wheel of a mobility vehicle built for his needs. Talking with a NMEDA dealer near you is the first stride in gifting your father with full mobility this Father’s Day.

A Get-Away

Whether it’s an afternoon watching his favorite team play his favorite sport or a day outside fishing, any father would love to spend a day out with his family. A day at the beach could be perfect for the dad that likes to relax. Or if your dad is the outdoorsy type, take a trip to a local state park to enjoy the nature, animals and fresh air with a nice cookout. Wherever you go, this outing is bound to become a cherished memory for you, your dad and the rest of your loved ones.

Whatever you choose to give your father on this special day, remember that the best gift of all is time spent with those you love most! Do you have any special plans for Father’s Day? Let us know how you’re planning on showing your dad that you appreciate him on NMEDA Facebook and NMEDA Twitter!

One response to “Father’s Day Gift Ideas – Not Just Another Tie

  1. These are some wonderful ideas for Father’s Day. I do try to get my dad something he needs every year – it’s good to break away from a tie or a pair of socks or other “typical” gifts.
