Pick Up Trucks

For some people a pickup truck can be a popular option.  Fortunately, several NMEDA member manufacturers provide equipment that will allow people with certain disabilities to drive a pickup. It is generally accepted that a person will need to have the ability to transfer from their wheelchair.

Several manufacturers produce power lift-and-swivel seating that can facilitate easy transfer.  When combined with a power lift that can hoist and store a wheelchair and/or scooter in the bed of the truck, it can allow the driver to maintain their independence and freedom.

Be sure to talk to a NMEDA Mobility Dealer before purchasing a pickup truck for conversion, and getting an evaluation from a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist is highly recommended.
